7 FUTURE GENERATIONS
7 TRADITIONAL LAWS
The 7 Gen name embodies the essence of the event and what it strives to be. It is inspired by the philosophy of considering the impact of our actions on 7 future generations, and by the 7 traditional laws of the Kwantlen First Nation: health, happiness, generations, generosity, humbleness, forgiveness, and understanding.
7 Gen Logo Design
A Collaboration by
Noah Atkins and Phyllis Atkins
Spring Salmon Studio
“Noah’s Thunderbird is a Coast Salish design with a contemporary use of colour that is inspired by his love of nature, hiking, skateboarding and fashion.
Thunderbird symbol represents power, protection and strength. A mythical being with bright and colourful feathers that claps its wings to make thunder and shoots lightning out of its eyes. Thunderbird lives in the clouds and brings truth to the land.
Noah wanted the Thunderbird’s ear to resemble a dorsal fin. Known as the killer whale, but real name is orca. They travel in pods, love deeply, play with joy and mourn their dead ~ they are the most like humans. The Mother teaches its young how to hunt and orcas put family first and members work together as one. This also resembles the skateboarding community ~ they work together, support one another and lift each other up!”
